The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), in partnership with the Lake Erie Marine Trades Association, is hosting a reception on the water Wednesday and Thursday during the Republican National Convention to provide a first-hand look into the U.S. recreational boating industry and its significant value to the economy.
The two-day event, honoring the Congressional Boating Caucus, includes tours of boats manufactured in the U.S. and rides on Lake Erie, as well as an opportunity to meet with industry and local leaders who can discuss the critical Great Lakes habitat and the overwhelming impact that recreational boat, engine and accessory manufacturing have on the U.S. economy. More than 150 attendees are expected and include delegates from Louisiana and Florida, Members of Congress and local boating businesses.
“NMMA is looking forward to bringing together local industry leaders, legislators and delegates at the Republican National Convention during one of our most critical election years,” said NMMA President Thom Dammrich. “The two-day event will give attendees the chance to learn about the positive and critical economic impact the marine manufacturing industry has on the local and national economy while experiencing the classic American pastime with a day on the water. In Ohio alone, recreational boating creates more than nearly 800 businesses and contributes $328 million to the local economy annually.”
NMMA will host a similar event during next week’s Democratic National Convention.
