AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department is banning personal watercraft from using Lake Austin during Memorial Day weekend. The ban is intended to keep lakes safe duing the busy weekend.
The ban also includes wet bikes and motorized surfboards.
The police will also enforce a “no refusal” initiative for drinking and boating. Those suspected of driving any type of vehicle, including boats, will have their blood tested under search warrant if they refuse a breathalyzer or other intoxication testing.
