JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A lawsuit against Crownline was settled during mediation in a case involving a deadly boat crash in 2009. Terms of the settlement was sealed, and the case is now considered closed.
The families of five people killed sued Crownline, claiming the boat was unsafe. Crownline said the 22-foot boat was safe, but had more passengers than the stated maximum occupancy.
A report by the National Transportation Safety Board determined that the crash was likely caused by alcohol impairment and inexperience.
