Dammrich to lead Grow Boating discussion

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America Convention will be the site of the first public report for retailers on the current Grow Boating Initiative, MRAA said today in a release.

Thom Dammrich, president of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, will lead a panel of task force chairmen at the 10:30 a.m. report session on Nov. 10 at the Stardust Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, according to MRAA.

The Grow Boating Initiative, which is comprised of five task forces, will feature reports from the chairman of each area. Participants will include:
– Product Standards & Quality – Chip Shea, Advanced Marine Technologies.
– Dealer Standards & Quality – Larry Russo, Russo Marine.
– Timely & Accurate Retail Sales Statistics – George Sullivan, Genmar Industries.
– Marketing Communications Strategy – John Dorton, MasterCraft Boats.
– The Funding Model – Bob Deputy, Godfrey Marine.

The discussion will detail the work of the year-long effort at developing concrete strategy and plans to grow boating. The members of these groups have reached the unanimous conclusion that the time has come to seriously address the factors hindering the growth of boating and to make long-term investments to grow the boating lifestyle, MRAA said.

“Big decisions to grow our businesses are being formulated thru these efforts and dealer involvement is mandatory,” said Phil Keeter, MRAA president. “The time to become involved and throw off our apathy is now.”

Dealers are encouraged to be in attendance to protect their investments, voice their opinions, and indicate their willingness to participate and promote the strategies and ideas that will be announced, MRAA said.
