Support growing for National Marina Day
WASHINGTON – Marine industry association support for National Marina Day 2004 (NMD) has already exceeded 2003 levels, with 23 marine industry organizations having contacted the Marina Operators Association of America (MOAA) to confirm support, compared to 13 trade associations last year, according to Kirby Cay Scheimann, NMD chair.
In 2004, NMD, which is produced by MOAA, will be observed on Aug. 14. Scheimann said the supporting associations are generally working on two tasks: passing proclamations and resolutions in their states to recognize marinas’ contributions to their local communities, and increasing participation in the event among their members.
“I’d like to personally thank the marine trade industry organizations that have stepped up and offered their resources to help make National Marina Day 2004 a success,” Scheimann said. “By joining forces with the country’s marina operators to educate elected officials and the public about the tremendous value of America’s marinas, the associations supporting National Marina Day are helping to support not only the marina industry, but the entire recreational boating industry as well.”
