Boating Industry signs on as partner for 2004 National Marina Day

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – National Marina Day chair Kirby Cay Scheimann, CMM, said today at the National Marina & Boatyard Conference and Exposition that Boating Industry magazine has agreed to serve as the 2004 National Marina Day media partner.

Marina Day is produced by MOAA and is an annual nationwide celebration of America’s marinas. It will be observed Aug. 14.

“The support of a national media partner like Boating Industry will help grow participation in this important industry program in 2004,” said Scheimann. “This partnership helps get the word out to marina operators not yet involved with NMD about the importance of educating elected officials and the general public about the value of marinas to cities and towns across the country. This, we feel, will ultimately increase participation in this industry event.”

As National Media Partner, Boating Industry will use its resources to promote National Marina Day, both online and in print editions, prior to the observance.

According to Boating Industry executive editor Liz Walz, partnering with MOAA to promote National Marina Day and educate the marina industry about the importance of participating in this industry event was an easy decision.

“Boating Industry is proud to be partnering with MOAA to support this important industry lobbying program,” said Walz. “Grassroots efforts to educate the public and elected officials about the recreational boating industry are important and we are excited to help MOAA raise the profile of America’s marinas on National Marina Day.”

Boating Industry is published by Ehlert Publishing Group of Maple Grove, Minn. Ehlert purchased the magazine and website from National Trade Publications in October, 2002. Ehlert is a subsidiary of Affinity Group Inc., the largest media, marketing and retail company serving the recreational vehicle (RV) marketplace. Ehlert also publishes Trailer Boats and Bass & Walleye Boats magazines for boating consumers.

National Marina 2004 is made possible, in part, by the sponsorship of the following companies: Atlantic-Meeco Inc., Bellingham Marine, BoatU.S., EMP Industries, Inc., EZ-Dock Inc., Flagship Marinas, Formex Floats, HydroHoist International, Marinas International, Onyx-Mansfield Energy Services, Premier Materials Technology, Inc., ShoreMaster, Universal Insurance Services and ValvTect Petroleum Products.

In March of 2004, MOAA will officially kick-off the 2004 NMD campaign.
Information is posted on the National Marina Day webpage at www.moaa.com. It will elaborate on the 2004 NMD theme and offer suggestions on how marinas can join in the effort to educate public servants about the marina industry. More in-depth materials will follow in the months leading up to the event, which in 2004 will be celebrated
on Aug. 14.
