Bombardier Launches Three-Star Two Strokes

Bombardier has introduced a new line of clean-burning, lightweight two-stroke engines the company says are going to change outboard boating forever.
We took a spin on a boat equipped with one of Bombardier’s new E-TEC engines, and found it to be responsive, smoke- and odor-free and very quiet. The high-tech two-stroke motors reportedly require very little maintenance — with one tank-full of oil per year and no maintenance for the first three years of normal use.
For 2004, the Evinrude E-TEC engines will come in 40-, 50-, 60-, 75- and 90-horsepower models, with an expansion to bigger output engines in model year 2005. Look for more details on the E-TEC family and the entire outboard engine segment in the next issue of Boating Industry.
