IER Industries bought by Fujikura Rubber

MACEDONIA, Ohio – Fujikura Rubber Ltd., a Tokyo, Japan-based manufacturer of industrial rubber goods, has acquired a controlling interest in IER Industries, which manufactures elastomer seals and parts for the marine industry, IER reported in a release yesterday.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but IER said no changes in management or employee base are anticipated and it will continue to operate out of its two U.S.-based facilities in Macedonia, Ohio and Liverpool, Pa.

“This acquisition will provide IER a global presence and access to newer technologies and a broader product line, allowing us to serve our customers even better,” David Ferguson, IER’s chief executive officer, said. “This strategic alliance will provide Fujikura Rubber with an increased presence in North America, as well as an increased presence abroad for IER.”
