NMTA names Alan Bohling chairman

SEATTLE – Alan Bohling, president of Seattle Boat Company, was named chairman of the board of trustees for the Northwest Marine Trade Association at an annual luncheon for the recreational boating group earlier this month, according to a statement from the NMTA Wednesday.

Bohling, elected to the board of trustees in 2003, will begin serving a one-year term as chairman on July 1. The 13-member board oversees the organization of the 58-year-old NMTA, which produces the Seattle Boat Show, as well as the Everett Boat Show and other boating events around the region.

In the NMTA’s annual board of trustees election, voting members of the group’s 900 companies, elected three: Greg Allen, Doug Burbridge and Dennis Nick.

Greg Allen, principal of Yacht Masters Northwest in Seattle has been an NMTA member for 17 years. For 26 years, he was the owner and operator of Northwest Yacht Repair, a leader in yacht commissioning, outfitting and repairs. For the past six years, he has been a member of the Boat Show Committee, including serving the last two as committee chair. In recent years, he served on the NMTA’s Boat Show Ad Hoc Space Allocation Committee, which crafted new guidelines for space allocation at the Seattle Boat Show in January.

Doug Burbridge, president of Mercer Marine in Bellevue, Wash., has been elected to serve a third term on the Board. A marine service dealer for more than 30 years, Burbridge is the current chair of the Marine Technicians Committee and he’s also active on the Government Affairs Committee and Political Action Committee.

Dennis Nick is vice president and co-owner of Nick’s Boats and Motors in Ballard, Wash., a third generation family owned and operated boat shop. He has been an active member of the NMTA for the past 19 years and currently sits on the NMTA’s Fish Committee. This is the second term for Nick on the Board of Trustees.

All three will serve a three-year term beginning July 1.

Also named to the Board of Trustees through vacancies created by retiring members or appointments to officer positions were Pat Jutte, president of Adventure Yachts, Inc. in Seattle and Jeff Lindhout, president and general manager of SeaSport Boats in Bellingham.
