Boat sales continue growth trajectory in July

The latest Info-Link Bellwether report shows powerboat sales continued their year-over-year sales growth in July, posting numbers 10 percent ahead of 2013.

As they have for much of the year, PWC and ski boat sales led the way, according to the Bellwether report, which tracks boat sales across the country based on new U.S. boat registrations. Bellwether states are geographically dispersed states representing roughly half of the US boat market (varies by market segment and time of year).

PWC unit sales were up more than 30 percent in July, continuing a strong 2014 after a nearly flat 2013 for category sales. Ski boat sales were up about 20 percent from 2013, continuing two years of solid growth for the category.

Both outboards and sportfish unit sales were up more than 10 percent year-over-year in July. Sterndrives/jet boat sales were the only category to see a decrease, with a slight drop from 2013, an improvement from the nearly 15 percent declines seen earlier this year.
