NMMA reports rise in boat imports, exports
CHICAGO – The NMMA statistics department released reports today that showed increases in wholesale sales and trade, while retail sales were down slightly over the previous 12 months.
NMMA’s Monthly Shipment Report (MSR) showed an increase of 7.9 percent in wholesale traditional powerboat sales through the first half of 2011, with corresponding dollars up 21.6 percent.
Recreational boat and marine engine imports and exports rose 9 percent and 3 percent, respectively, according to the NMMA Export/Importa Abstract, with dollars down 4 percent on exports and up 6 percent on imports from last year.
The New Powerboat Registrations Report indicates that new powerboat registrations fell 5 percent compared to the year before. Estimates are that sales will also be down 0.4 percent through July over the previous year.
