SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Lake Tahoe boat inspectors prevented a quagga mussel-infested vessel from entering Lake Tahoe Sunday.
The mussels were found during a routine inspection, and 37 mussels were indentified on the boat. The boat had previously been in Lake Mead in Nevada, which contains the quagga.
The boat owner was cooperative, according to an article in the Tahoe Daily Tribune, and the vessel underwent several rounds of decontamination. The vessel was eventually cleared to enter the lake.
Lake Tahoe has had boat inspections since 2008.
