MIAMI – A fugitive who provided boats to the “Black Tuna Gang” for drug smuggling more than 30 years ago was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday, according to an Orlando Sentinel news article.
Former corporate director of Striker Aluminum Yachts, Mark Steven Philips, 62, began his run from police in 1979 when he disappeared while out on bond during a drug smuggling trial for his involvement with the gang.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the “Black Tuna Gang” imported more than 500 tons of marijuana and cocaine into the United States during the 1970s.
