SeaStrike and SportCraft report sales increases

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – S1 Marine LLC, builders of SportCraft and SeaStrike boats, are bucking the trend of the depressed boating market by reporting significant sales increases for the 12 months ended May 31. In fact, the company said sales have doubled over the past year.

“We are very pleased with the way dealers and retail customers have been buying both the SeaStrike and SportCraft lines,” said Tom Thies, S1 president. “At this point, the number of boats we have shipped is well in excess of last year’s extremely optimistic forecast for this year!”

While the company didn’t share specific revenue numbers, it did explain the increase. Thies said there are now about two dozen dealers for each boat brand vs. four for SeaStrike and none for SportCraft at this time last year. He also pointed out that the SeaStrike line has added a 260B center console and gotten into full production on the 240 cc that was introduced last year, giving the brand five models from 18 to 26 feet in length.

The SportCraft line has six models from 23 to 30 feet in length, and a 31-foot Sportfisherman is expected in July, he added.

In the past month, S1 has added two dealers: Pelican Bay Marine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., which will handle both lines, and Louis Marine of Westbrook, Conn., which took on SportCraft , according Mike Collins, S1 dealer development manager. It now has 22 SeaStrike and 23 SportCraft dealers from Florida to Massachusetts to Michigan.

“We have continually been coming out with new products, with the introduction of the 260 SeaStrike Center Console earlier this year and shortly the much awaited 31 Sportfisherman at SportCraft. This gives our dealers and their retail customers an even more complete line from which to choose,” noted Thies.

S1 produces its boat models at a nearly 200,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant in Perry, Fla., which S1 purchased early last year.
