BRISTOL, R.I. — The International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) will host open house events at its Newport and Bristol campuses in mid-July. The events include opportunities to talk with IYRS staff and instructors, see student projects, and learn about the skills taught at the school’s training programs and potential careers.
The Newport open house will take place on July 19; the Bristol event will take place on July 21.
The Newport campus is home to the school’s Boatbuilding & Restoration program and the site of notable restorations, including the restoration of the rare 1885 schooner yacht Coronet.
The Bristol location includes the Marine Systems and newly launched Composites Technology programs. The Bristol campus will display Composites students’ project of building carbon-fiber Moth sailboats — from the initial image in 3D software all the way to finished plugs, tools and boat.
