Yacht restoration school to host open house

NEWPORT, R.I. — The International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) will host open house events at its Newport and Bristol campuses.

“Both events take place in May during one of the most dynamic times of the year at IYRS, as students rush to complete the projects they have spent the past year building and restoring in preparation for graduation day,” the school said in a statement.

On Wednesday afternoon, May 4, IYRS will welcome members of the public to the student workshop inside Restoration Hall on the Newport campus. On Wednesday, May 25, the school will host an Open House at its Bristol facility. Both events will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

IYRS open houses allow the public and potential students to see the facilities, meet instructors and staff, learn about admissions and financial aid and see student projects.

The Newport campus is home to the school’s Boatbuilding & Restoration Program. The Bristol campus is home to the school’s Marine Systems program, where students learn to install, maintain, and troubleshoot the onboard systems used on classic and modern boats, and the school’s newly launched Composites Technology Program, which gives students a foundation in composites processes, techniques, and technology.
