Saltwater Fishing Expo opens in new location

The Progressive Insurance Saltwater Fishing Expo opens today, nearly doubling its footprint as it moves from the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, N.J. to the larger, more centrally-located New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, NJ.

The 2018 Saltwater Fishing Expo will feature more fishing tackle and gear exhibits, seminars, and interactive features dedicated to the region’s large population of saltwater fishing enthusiasts.

Highlights of the 2018 Saltwater Fishing Expo, which runs through Sunday, include:

  • More saltwater fishing exhibitors, with expanded sections for in-shore fishing, off-shore fishing and surf casting
  • New Fishing 101 Interactive Learning Center, featuring three stations and a variety of expert saltwater pros providing one-on-one instruction and hands-on demos. Techniques being taught include: Knot Tying; Rigging Baits; Reel Maintenance; Rod Building and Repair; Cast Net Demonstrations; Jig Casting; Varied Inshore and Offshore Techniques; Mojo Fishing 101; Fly Tying and more
  • Casting pond, featuring demonstrations of new rods and reels, fly fishing seminars and one-on-one fly-casting instruction
  • Fishing Simulator
  • Appearances by two stars from the hit television show Wicked Tuna, Captain Paul Hebert and Captain Dave Carraro
  • Dozens of seminars for novice and experienced anglers
