Westrec among marinas to celebrate NMD

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Westrec Marinas will celebrate National Marina Day with several planned events Aug. 14. Simultaneous festivities will occur at Westrec’s Harbour Towne and Hall Of Fame Marinas, the company reported in a recent statement.

– Harbour Towne Marina in Dania Beach, Fla. will host a bar-b-que and educational programs including the following: American Maritime Officers safety demonstrations, a junior angler fishing clinic & derby and a free Coast Guard Auxiliary safety inspection.

The Brass Hat Diving Society will provide an education arena on the new and the old style of diving as well as how to get involved with commercial diving as a profession.

– Hall of Fame Marina will host a courtesy marine vessel examination by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. The marina will be offering free dockage for the day for any vessel interested in participating. Other activities include a bar-b-que and socializing.

“This day is very important in showing existing boaters and new boater’s safe activities and clean marina standards, while benefiting local charities,” said Gary Groenewold, Westrec’s vice president, Southern Area.
