MRAA awards educational scholarships

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America Educational Foundation recently presented two scholarships for furthering dealership personnel education, the organization said in a statement yesterday.

The MRAA Educational Foundation presented Kevin Lodder Scholarships to dealership employers/owners to attend a weeklong Spader Total Management Workshop. This year Don Mackenzie, Boats Inc., Niantic, Conn.; and Dennis Drummond, Drummond Marine Service, Holland, Mich., were given the scholarships. The $2,500 scholarships were made possible with the cooperation of the Spader Companies. State, local and regional marine associations, as well as 20 Group members can nominate recipients. The nominees cannot be currently active in an MRAA/Spader 20 Group.

Technician Scholarship Grants are awarded to state trade associations that will match the grants for training technicians. One $1,500 grant was given to the Connecticut Marine Trades Association and another went to the New York Marine Trades Association.
