Malibu Boats, LLC CEO Jack Springer has been named the 2017 Boating Industry Mover & Shaker of the Year.
Boating Industry Editor Tim Hennagir presented Springer with the award during the IBEX Industry Breakfast Tuesday morning in Tampa.
“While other companies hesitated to launch a new brand during a recession, Malibu did so with Axis, its fourth-largest inboard boat brand, becoming a driver of innovation,” Hennagir said. ‘Jack is a top leader in the boating industy, a mover and shaker who challenges the status quo.”
Boating Industry also recognized four other industry leaders as finalists for the Mover & Shaker of the Year award:
- Thom Dammirch of the National Marine Manufacturers Association and Matt Gruhn of the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas (joint nomination)
- Scott Deal of Maverick Boat Group
- Joe Maniscalco of Yamaha Marine Group
Hennagir said Springer was chosen for leading Malibu’s strong growth over the past eight years, reviving the brand to become the No. 1 inboard boat in terms of market share, according to statistics from Info-Link technologies.
Springer has also ben the driving force between several of Malibu’s most strategic moves, such as moving the company to a public IPO and Malibu’s recent acquisition of Cobalt Boats.
“Jack’s approach to success entails building and empowering well-functioning executive teams,” Hennagir said. “His leadership has provided focus, discipline and accountability.”
