CLEMMONS, N.C. — In its first 10 days after going live, SeeDealerCost.com says it generated more than 23,000 unique visitors and 250,000 page views.
A release from the site said that number included visits from 88 countries and generated a U.S. traffic rank of 116,788 on Alexa.com. It noted that more than 15,500 total product configurations were generated.
The release restated the site's philosophy, a href="http://insider.boatingindustry.com/2011/03/seedealercost/" target=blank>which Dave Taylor shared with Boating Industry when the site initially launched, that the marine, powersports and RV industries are losing business and must change because consumer expectations regarding information gathering and shopping are not being met.
The release shared several positive comments from early site visitors, including:
“Awesome site. You guys are pioneers and I certainly appreciate the hard work. Hope you prevail. Keep up the awesome work.”
“I read about your newly launched website in the current issue of PowerSports Business. Great and interesting concept!”
“I'm in the boat business and while I'm not directly impacted by what you are doing one way or the other, I do believe that information is the lubricant of a free market. Maybe the weak will be hurt or even fail, but the strong and adaptable will survive and in the long haul what you are doing should be good for business. I'm surprised and disappointed that so much of the industry sentiment seems to be otherwise.”

“Thank you for opening this site. I just started looking for buying a boat and commented to my wife ‘Hey, there's no edmunds.com for boats at least for price’. Then you launched yesterday.”
