New boating festival attracts more than 9,000

LIVONIA, Mich.—More than 9,000 people attended the First Annual Boating & Outdoor Recreation Festival running from Sept. 22-26 in Harrison Township, Mich.

This new boat show featured boats on shore and in the water, with many other outdoor recreation exhibits catering to the millions of outdoor minded individuals in Michigan and surrounding states.

“The Festival mission is to provide inspiration and education for individuals and families to encourage outdoor recreation,” said Van Snider, president of Michigan Boating Industries Association, in a recent press release. “Any group that will benefit from getting more people up off the couch and outside to enjoy healthy, family recreation should be partnering with this event. Boating and outdoor recreation offers health and well-being benefits and is easy, affordable and right in our own back yard.”

Along with boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles and other equipment and supplies on display and for sale, the festival featured art, pet adoption, live music, beer tents, radio stations, and SpongeBob.
