NEWPORT, R.I. - Newport Exhibition Group, which produces the Newport International Boat Show, and World Publications, which publishes Cruising World, Power Cruising and Sailing World magazines, have joined forces to make “Newport for New Products,” the show's new product program, the official venue for the U.S. debuts of all new boats and boating products, show organizers said in a press release yesterday.
Together the two have established an industry-wide promotion that will recognize the best of the boats and boating products being introduced for the new model year.
With new product introductions beginning in September, manufacturers have used the Newport Show to officially introduce their new models or to bring a new product to the American market. Now, World's boating publications will cover eligible new power and sail boats, and new boating products, in a feature section in all three of their magazines prior to the show. All eligible boats and boating products will be promoted at the show and the “best” of the new products will be cited in national, regional and home-town publicity as the show begins.
“Newport for New Products has been a focus for the Newport International Boat Show for years,” said Nancy Piffard, show director. “Now, with the partnership of Cruising World, Power Cruising and Sailing World magazines, we will bring this program to a much higher level, giving the exhibitor and their new product exposure. It will be a win/win situation for the show, the publications and the participants.”
Only Newport International Boat Show exhibitors are eligible for the Newport for New Products program and there is no entry fee. Deadline for entry is June 15. To be eligible, boats and boating products must be introduced between April 14 and Sept. 14, 2006 (the opening day of the Newport Show), and the “Official Introduction” must be at the Newport International Boat Show. The Newport International Boat Show runs this year from Sept. 14-17.
