Mercury Marine creating new training base

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Mercury Marine will offer technical training courses for its dealers, beginning in October, from the new Springfield, Mo. home of Mercury University at the Ozarks Technical Community College, the company reported in a release this week.

The facility will allow Mercury University to provide more hands-on dealer technical training. The training center design has separate MerCruiser and outboard classrooms, each offering more space than the single combined classroom at the previous location, eliminating congestion. In addition, the design allows each of the rooms to be equipped with multiple test tanks, providing hands-on training utilizing running engines.

Two classrooms allow Mercury University the flexibility to schedule simultaneous outboard and MerCruiser classes during the prime training season over the winter months. Ozarks Technical Community College is located close to Springfield-Branson Regional airport, major highways and hotels.

To prepare the new facility for fall classes, Mercury University stopped offering dealer technical training classes at the Lake Career and Technical Center in Camdenton, Mo. on May 1.
