West Marine October sales improve
WATSONVILLE, Calif. — Aftermarket market accessories retailer West Marine Inc. reported its sales revenue increased 2.3 percent during the four-week period that ended Saturday, October 25, at the stores it has operated for at least one year, according to a statement made by the company today.
West Marine’s total sales during October increased 27.4 percent to $36.7 million because of the impact of the 62 BoatU.S. stores that West Marine bought last January, the company stated.
West Marine’s October sales represented a significant improvement over its sales earlier this year. During the 43-week period that ended Saturday, West Marine’s comparable store sales were down 3.2 percent, although its total sales increased 22.7 percent to $572.8 million because of the BoatU.S. stores acquisition.
By region, West Marine’s “same store” October sales were up 3 percent in the Southeast, up 3 percent in the Northeast and up 0.6 percent along the West Coast, according to the company.
