Cobia Boats becomes RFA corporate sponsor

The Recreational Fishing Alliance announced Thursday that it has added Cobia Boats as a corporate sponsor.

“Through our Cobia brand, Maverick Boat Group is proud to partner with the RFA and to join them in taking the needs and concerns of recreational saltwater anglers and the industries that support them straight to Washington’s front door,” said Charlie Johnson, MBG’s director of marketing. “We are at a critical time in protecting recreational fishing rights and our fisheries and the RFA has the skill, determination and access to bring about real change.”

“The RFA is justifiably proud to welcome Cobia and the Maverick Boat Group as partners in protecting your right to fish,” said Jim Donofrio, RFA executive director. “Maverick’s president, Scott Deal, was instrumental in identifying the areas of concern for the upcoming reauthorization of the Magnuson Stevens Act along with Johnny Morris of Bass Pro Shops. Those concerns mirrored the concerns of the RFA and have served to bring the industry and saltwater fishing groups together in a unified effort to promote sustainable fisheries while expanding angler access to healthy fish stocks.”

Cobia Boats are built by Maverick Boat Group of Fort Pierce, Florida. Maverick Boat Group is privately owned and operated and is the manufacturer of the Maverick, Hewes, Pathfinder and Cobia boat brands.
