ABBRA to accept nominations for Excellence Awards

WARREN, R.I. — The American Boat Builders and Repairers Association (ABBRA) is now accepting nominations for its 2003 Annual Excellence Awards, the association reported yesterday.

Awards are given in five categories: Dennis Snow President’s Award; Excellence in Safety and Environmental Practices Award; Excellence in Technology Award; Commitment to Training Award; and ABBRA’s Boatyard of the Year Award.

The Dennis Snow President’s Award is given to the individual or company for outstanding contribution to the Boatyard and Repair Industry. The Excellence in Safety and Environmental Practices Award is given to the boatyard or service facility that has made significant strides in creating a clean, safe and healthy facility for workers and customers, according to the company.

The Excellence in Technology Award is given to the service or repair facility that has developed or applied an advanced or innovative technology, system or practice. The Commitment to Training Award is given to the service or repair facility that has demonstrated a significant commitment to training and professional development for themselves and their employees.

The Award of Excellence, or ABBRA’s Boatyard of the Year Award is given to the service or repair facility that demonstrates excellence in all facets of their company through commitment to customer service, quality management and positive vendor and employee relations, the company reported.

“These awards have become the marine service industry’s hallmarks of excellence,” said Bill Munger, ABBRA president. “The awards recognize our industry’s achievements throughout the year, on behalf of its members, ABBRA is proud to be able to recognize our colleagues and peers for their outstanding contributions.”

This year’s recipients will be recognized at the 2004 National Marina & Boatyard Conference and Exhibition scheduled for February 4-6 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center.
