Seawork International announces conference, demonstration plans
Europe’s largest commercial marine and workboat exhibition held in a working port, Seawork International, has released its 2015 plans for demonstrations, launches and conferences.
Some of the highlights will include Voith, who will be announcing a new marine propulsion system that produces more thrust, reduces noise and vibration, whilst dramatically cutting operating costs.
The Smart Surfaces’ Duplex fouling from Tudor Streamline Surfaces will be debuting at Seawork, which is expected to attract considerable interest from commercial boat operators having been initially developed by the US Navy, as the company claims it has impressive performance and longevity.
Seawork debuts
New for 2015 from Seawork exhibitor Cheetah Marine is the next generation 6m series of catamaran workboats, offering enhanced deck space, and providing a soft and comfortable ride.
Servowatch is launching its new integrated vessel management system, which features the award-winning WINMON software, designed specifically for craft such as search and rescue and fisheries protection, where redundant functions and inter-operability are vital.
Damen Shipyards will display its fleet of showpiece vessels, including Interceptor and Multicats, on its own custom-built 540m2 pontoon.
Sabik will be launching and demonstrating its new remote monitoring system for navigational aids; the ‘LightGuard Monitor’, which is designed for easy integration into an existing monitoring centre and works with satellite links or via a GSM network.
The Bilge-Bug, being launched by Excel Marine at Seawork International, has been designed and engineered in the UK to provide safe and reliable clearance of bilge water.
Harken Industrial will debut its new self-tailing, man-riding winch with the security of a captive head, the LokHead winch, offering complete security against accidental free fall. Suited to a myriad of applications, including man overboard rescues, the winch is set to make deployment and recovery simpler and safer.
Demonstrations
There are many demonstrations occurring over the three days of Seawork, ranging from acoustic hailing device from Drumgrange, through to Icom’s licence-free IP advanced radio system. The highly acclaimed Dive Tank will once again return to Seawork, with demonstrations being delivered from the likes of Cygnus Instruments and Tritex.
Conference
Returning again to Seawork this year is the highly acclaimed three-day conference programme. Sponsored by Peters & May, the Seawork Conference is hosted by Rolls Royce, MOD, Harken, SOREC, UK Marine & Coastguard Agency (MCA), Tuco Group, Palfinger, the National Workboat Association, National Oceanography Centre (NOC), CTruk, Southampton University and The Carbon Trust. The conference will include a range of topical seminars which will be held on-site at Seawork International for the duration of the exhibition.
Topics include the ever-popular Meet The Buyer sessions, Collaboration with research centres and universities, Offshore Wind Accelerator, Modern Waterjet Engines, the Small Craft Surveyors Forum, plus the MOD Procurement Programme sessions on Wednesday 17 June.
Entrance to the Conference is free of charge and delegates are welcome to attend the popular sessions without pre-booking their place.
Innovations
New commercial marine innovations will also be on display at Seawork, both within Seawork’s Innovations Showcase, as well as throughout the three exhibition halls, quayside and marina. Ocean Signal’s new rescueME MOB1, being the world’s smallest AIS MOB device with integrated DSC will be on display, as will Mastervolt’s new range of waterproof battery chargers, together with its iPad controlled electrical system interface.
Anticipating upwards of 7,500 visitors, Seawork International is being held 16-18 June at ABP Port of Southampton, UK, and will be the largest to date with 611 exhibitors are due to attend, displaying around 5,000 products and 62 vessels.
Seawork’s exhibitors represent a broad spectrum of offerings; from vessel building, hydrography, coatings, deck gear, professional training, diving, brokerage, renewables, through to vessel security; ensuring there is something for all businesses.
