Hilton Head Island prepares to launch boat ramp project

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Construction on a boat ramp with deep-water access on Broad Creek should begin in two to three weeks and finish in August, giving Hilton Head Island its second public landing, said a story in yesterday’s, Carolina Morning News.

“It’s been in the making for many years. We finally got all the permits in place and the funding in place,” said Bob Klink, Beaufort County engineer. “We’re glad construction is getting under way. Hopefully by the end of summer we should be launching.”

Beaufort County is paying for the $1.1 million project – which also includes a 10-by-60-foot floating dock – counting design and construction, on about 3 acres provided by the town of Hilton Head Island and the state Department of Transportation, the story said.
