Politician selected to receive MBIA award
LIVONIA, Mich. – The Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) has selected State Representative Randy Richardville as the recipient of the 2004 MBIA Mayor’s Cup Award, the association reported in a statement yesterday.
The MBIA said it decided to recognize Richardville “for his leadership role in creating positive legislation for the boating industry in Michigan, specifically House Bill 4808, the ‘Watercraft Manufacturer and Dealer Act.’”
His leadership of the Legislative Boating Caucus and work to protect dedicated boating trust funds were also cited by MBIA.
“It is not an overstatement to say that today Representative Richardville is boating’s hero,” said MBIA President Van Snider. “He is working extremely hard on an extremely important piece of legislation. If it passes it will protect boating businesses and boaters in Michigan and ultimately across the country. We salute him and honor him with this award as a well deserved thank you.”
The Mayor’s Cup is presented each year by the MBIA to the Michigan City, legislator, individual or group that has made an outstanding contribution to the recreational boating industry. The Mayor’s Cup is a large silver trophy topped with a sailboat and mounted on a large black base, which lists all past recipients.
