1. NMMA: Canadian outboard engine shipments up 18 percent
Wholesale shipments of outboard engines in Canada for NMMA’s control group of manufacturers were up 18 percent R12M YOY through August, the association reported. Corresponding dollars were up 28.7 percent.
2. NASBLA names new president
Stephanie Weatherington, Arkansas’s boating law administrator, has been elected president of the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. Her one-year term succeeds Darren Rider, Tennessee’s boating law administrator.
3. San Vicente Reservoir reopens for boating, fishing
A popular San Diego reservoir will open for boating and fishing for the first time in eight years, the Times of San Diego reported.
The San Vincente Reservoir had been closed while a dam project was planned and constructed in order to raise the water level.
4. Henry Ward Design plans the superyacht of the future
Henry Ward Design has come out with its “Time,” a design for the superyacht of the future.
Features include a drone that can carry up to four passengers, beach club, floating lodge and more.
5. What the “Millennial mind-set” means for retailers
The Retail Owners Institute looks at Deloitte Consulting LLP’s fourth annual survey “The New Digital Divide: The future of digital influence in retail” and finds some positive signs for retailers in how shoppers — especially Millennials — are using tech in their shopping.
