METS 2015: Exhibitor, attendee records fall

A record number of exhibitors welcomed a record number of visitors to the 2015 METS, marking a significant milestone for the show and signaling a global turnaround for the recreational boating industry.

Show organizers have announced a final attendance of 21,953, representing a 4 percent increase over the 21,083 who attended METS in 2014. The figure also marks an all-time attendance record for the show, in its 28th year.

METS opened with a record number of exhibitors, with 1,385 companies exhibiting an incredibly diverse range of components and accessories. This figure includes more than 200 first-time METS exhibitors.

“Once again METS has found a way to exceed all expectations,” said Scepter Marine’s David Jones. “Our stand was busy from open to close each day.”

“METS was a great show as always,” said Whale Pumps’ Keith Nixon. “We were in meetings with distributors and new clients pretty much non-stop from the opening. The enthusiasm and confidence level is definitely on the increase, and that’s good to see. Things are definitely moving in the right direction. It’s not explosive growth, but you can see the economic wheels are starting to turn again.”

The 2016 METS will be held from November 15 to 17 inclusive in the Amsterdam Rai convention centre.
