1. Tennessee dealer charged with boat resale scam
Carolyn Dianne Hopkins, the former owner of Tennessee’s Pickwick Water Sports, repeatedly sold and resold boats to multiple buyers, WATN reported.
It’s a scam that was made possible by the fact that Tennessee has no title law for boats, local officials say.
The dealer offered free storage to buyers, and then resold those boats to new buyers several times.
