On the water: Here we go!

During the 2021 boating season, Boating Industry was lucky enough to have two loaner units from BRP Sea-Doo. We took to the water with a new 2021 RXP-X and GTI SE 170 to a create a new, informative and immersive level of content for personal watercraft riders, both new and veteran. We’re finally here on the water. Much later than we thought it would be — more on that below– but thanks to our friends at BRP the Boating Industry team has two new 2021 Sea-Doo loaner units to create some new content and bring you a new BI experience, “On the water.”

Personal watercraft (PWC) sales — as well as boat sales — have been absolutely on fire lately — one positive note of the Covid-19 pandemic for all of those involved in the recreational marine industry.

We’ve been gearing up (or at least trying to) since mid-April for the arrival of our test unit Sea-Doos, for a whole new type of content for Boating Industry. Unfortunately, along the way, we were met with many of the different hurdles that we’ve been writing about over the last few months — supply chain, inventory, weather, etc.

While at the mercy of seemingly endless winters being headquartered in the Midwest, the BI team had no idea that waiting for ice-out would only be our first pause during our anticipation for our units to arrive and hit the water.

Fast-forward through still increasing spring sales for the new 2021 PWC to May 2021 and our next hurdle. Good news: our loaner 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X and GTI SE 170 are at our local dealership. Bad news: there’s no trailer to put them on.

Meanwhile, the industry continues to feel supply chain and inventory pinches as sales continue to blaze and building supplies dwindle. Not just in the marine industry, but everywhere aluminum is tougher and tougher to come by. Between the BI team and the BRP team, we’ve got boots on the ground everywhere tracking down a trailer.

Fast-forward once more to the end of June and the champions at BRP and our area dealer have the RXP-X and GTI on a trailer, ready to hit the water.

After some logistics on our side put yet another slight pause on hitting the water, here we are at just about the half-way mark of the Midwest riding season, we’re fueled up, we’re ready to go, let’s get riding.
