ACR Electronics names general manager, senior sales manager

FORT LAUERDALE, Fla. — Michael Wilkerson was recently named general manager of ACR Electronics Inc., according to a release from parent company Cobham.

Wilkerson comes to ACR following his most recent position as director of strategy and business development for Cobham SATCOM (Satellite Communications). In leadership roles throughout his career with Cobham, Wilkerson was one of the founders Chelton, Inc. (Cobham Antennas in Lewisville, Texas) for Chelton Ltd. in 1982 and served as its president from 1992-2007, and was part of the acquisition team for Cobham SATCOM Fullerton and served as president of Comant from 1997-2005.

Wilkerson also participated in Cobham’s original acquisition of ACR Electronics and Artex Aircraft Supplies Inc. and is well acquainted with the emergency beacon business and its growth over the last decade.

A native of South Florida, Wilkerson is a graduate of Miami-Dade Junior College and Florida International University.

Cobham also announced the appointment of Ron Crowder as senior sales manager for ACR Electronics.

Crowder held the position for most of the past 12 years and is resuming it following a brief hiatus. Crowder brings more than 30 years sales and distribution experience to his position at ACR.

ACR Electronics, part of Cobham Commercial Systems, designs and manufactures a complete line of safety and survival products including EPIRBs, PLBs, ELTs, AIS, SARTs, Strobe Lights, Life Jacket Lights, Search Lights and safety accessories.
