Bertram Yachts appoints new president

MIAMI – Bertram Yachts has appointed Alton Herndon as its new president, according to a release from the company. Former president Mike Myers recently announced he was leaving the company to pursue a new professional career path.

Herndon has more than 35 years of executive management experience, the company reported. He was president of Hatteras Yachts from 1985 to 1996. Herndon also held various roles in executive management positions with brands such as Palmer Johnson Inc., Tiara Yachts and KCS International, and most recently served as co-founder and managing partner of Southport Boat Works.

Herndon has also served as chairman of the National Association of Boat Manufacturers and is a past member of the executive committee and board of directors of the National Marine Manufacturers Association. He studied business at High Point College and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Executive Program.

“I am excited about the opportunity to join such a skilled and valuable team and look forward to working closely with the Ferretti Group in building first class top quality sport-fishing vessels,” Herndon said in the release. “Bertram has such a rich history, and I am honored to become a part of it.”
