Hatteras chairman heads for second retirement
NEW BERN, N.C. — Hatteras Yachts and Cabo Yachts Chairman Bill Naumann has resigned effective Feb. 19 and now heads for his second retirement, according to a report in the New Bern Sun Journal.
Naumann first retired after eight years in March 2006 but returned in November 2008 to help Hatteras restructure in the face of economic conditions that prompted layoffs and a near shutdown of the yacht manufacturer.
Naumann told the paper that Hatteras now “has a leadership team here and a great plan in place. We’ve sold some boats and are hiring some people back to work. In my mind, it’s the right time for a smooth transition.”
