Bruntons Propellers to increase R&D resources
ESSEX, England — In an effort to advance their research and development facilities, Brunton Propellers has promoted Toby Ramsay to Technical Manager, the company said in a release. Ramsay, who has been with Bruntons for nine years, is now responsible for expanding the knowledge areas covered by the propulsion research, development and design team.
Robert Mutton also joins Bruntons from the University of Newcastle where he was a Research Associate working on the EU “Ambio” project investigating the use of novel, nanoscale surfaces to prevent marine fouling without the use of biocides. Robert is also finishing his Ph.D studies in Marine Technology, due for completion this year.
Prior to actually working at Newcastle University, Mutton graduated from there in 2000 with a First in Marine Engineering and then completed his Masters a year later, becoming a Master of Research in Technology in the Marine Environment.
“Robert brings new expertise to our already highly experienced and knowledgeable research and design team. I am sure that he will prove to be a valuable asset to the company as he involves himself in the exciting projects that we already have contracted in the future and others that will no doubt follow. The end result of the changes we are making will be to provide the marine industry with a centre of excellence in propulsion research and design,” said Adrian Miles, Managing Director of Bruntons Propellers.
