Harken reorganizes sales team

PEWAUKEE, Wis. — Harken Yacht Equipment has reorganized its global and U.S. sales with three internal promotions and one staff reduction, the company reported in a release this week.

Promoted into new roles are Mark Wiss (Global Sales Manager), Jim Andersen (U.S. Sales Manager) and Charlotte Taylor (U.S. Aftermarket Leader). Tim Kent, former U.S. sales manager, is leaving the company.

“The economic downturn has impacted all segments of the sailing industry,” Harken USA CEO Bill Goggins said in the release. “We are using this downturn to our advantage by resizing and refocusing our sales team to serve the market in every way possible. We’re optimistic about Harken’s position for the future.”

Mark Wiss is a 15-year veteran of the company. His new position fills the roles and responsibilities previously held by Goggins, who was promoted to CEO of Harken USA last fall.

Jim Andersen will head Harken’s U.S. sales team and set the overall strategic direction for the group. Prior to his new role, Andersen was the company’s Northeast U.S. and Northern European sales manager for more than four years.

Charlotte Taylor has been promoted from her sales position to leader of Harken’s aftermarket. Taylor has been with Harken for 9 years, managing Harken’s boat show team and Harken University series as well as the West Marine account.
