ABYC elects new board

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The American Boat and Yacht Council recently elected new board officers and directors, the group reported in a release today. Election results were validated at ABYC’s annual meeting, which was held at Broward College in Miramar, Fla.

During the meeting, Past Chair Bill Drake of Marinco officially introduced the incoming Chair, Gerry Douglas of Catalina Yachts. Douglas is vice president and a principal of Catalina Yachts and has been employed with Catalina since 1976. He most recently held the position of treasurer of ABYC and chair of the Business & Financial Planning Committee.

According to ABYC, the other results are as follows:

Vice Chair of the Board: George Bellwoar. Bellwoar has served as the vice president of Sales and Marketing for Perko Inc. since 1995. He is also the immediate past chairman of the board of the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

Technical Chair of the Board: Dave Marlow. Marlow is the director of Product Integrity for the Brunswick Boat Group. He is a past chair of the ABYC Board of Directors and is a current member of the Board’s Executive Committee and Nominating Committee, as well as chair of the ABYC Technical Board and an ABYC PTC member.

Treasurer: Jack Hornor. Jack Hornor is the president of Marine Survey and Design Company and a long-time surveyor, naval architect, supporter and current board member of ABYC.

Jorge Guerra, Dean, Broward College’s Aviation Institute, Automotive Training Center and the Marine Engineering Management program
