Tallon Marine creates international business manager position

WANAKA, New Zealand – Tallon Marine, a New Zealand-based manufacturer of integrated marine accessory systems, has named Greg Urquhart, 40, international business manager, a new role designed to respond to the increasing demand for Tallon Marine receivers and accessories in the U.S., Europe and Australasia, the company reported in a statement yesterday.

Urquhart joins Tallon Marine from Gen-I, an information technology company, where he developed and managed sales opportunities across key accounts, according to Tallon.

“Tallon Marine uses innovative design to enable traditional boat accessories to be used more effectively and in line with each boater’s needs,” said Duncan Good, general manager. “In his previous position, Greg had to capitalize on technology solutions to better serve his customers as well. These synergies will serve him well in his new role at Tallon Marine. He’ll also draw from his experience in the fuel business where he has managed all Shell’s retail and commercial activity in various parts of New Zealand.”

“I saw Tallon Marine launch at the Auckland International Boat Show in 2007 and followed their progress with interest ever since,” said Urquhart. “As a passionate ‘boatie’ myself, I saw the remarkable opportunities that the Tallon Marine receivers and accessories would offer the marine industry and the boat owner alike. When the opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance to join the team.”

“Our goal is to establish more ongoing, face-to-face time with our customers and prospects in order to better serve their needs and to support our growth efforts worldwide,” explained Good. “Greg brings all the enthusiasm and skills required for the job.”

Urquhart has planned business trips to Australia, Dubai, the U.S. and Europe for the near future.
