Maine association welcomes new officers and directors
PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Marine Trades Association, incorporated in 1966 and serving a diverse membership located throughout the state of Maine, has elected new officers and directors, it reported in a recent statement.
Joining the Board as Directors at Large are Jeff Baker of Sabre Yachts, S. Casco; Bill Fletcher of Beaver Cove Marina, Beaver Cove; Ian Kopp of Maritime Marine, LLC, Augusta; Skip Robinson of Marine Industries Consultants, LLC, Brunswick and Sean Tarpey of Rumery’s Boat Yard, Biddeford. Following their election by the membership, the full Board of Directors – which includes Tom Allen, Kittery Point Yacht Yard, Kittery; Wayne Hamilton, Hamilton Marine, Searsport; Chip Miller, Six River Marine, N. Yarmouth and Mason Sears, SF Marina Systems USA, Portland – elected Tuesdi Woodworth, Morris Yachts, Bass Harbor to serve as president, and Ron Defoe, Lyman Morse Boatbuilding, Thomaston to serve as vice president.
“I am delighted to have these folks on board as Directors and Officers!” said association Executive Director Susan Swanton. “They represent a great cross section of our industry and are a real pleasure to work with. This is a very active board and they are all so very committed.”
According to The Maine Marine Trades Association, Woodworth, who is the CFO at Morris Yachts, has served on the board since 2006 and is the first woman to serve the Association as President.
“I’m really honored that my peers have elected me to serve in this capacity. I really believe in MMTA and all that it does for our industry and I will work hard with our staff and the other Board members to see that our goals as an organization are met” said Woodworth after her election.
She resides in Bar Harbor with her husband Michael. Morris Yachts has facilities in Bass Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Trenton. Defoe, who lives in Lincolnville with his wife Merrilee, is Environmental, Health, Safety, and Facilities Manager at Lyman Morse Boatbuilding and has served on the board since 2006. He is also active in the Maine Clean Boatyards & Marinas Program which is sponsored by the MMTA. Lyman Morse has facilities in Thomaston and Tenants Harbor.
