Gibson Fiberglass names new VP of sales

IRWINDALE, Calif. – Ron Adams has been appointed vice president of sales for Gibson Fiberglass, a supplier of fiberglass reinforcements and fabrics to the marine industry, the company reported in a release yesterday.

Adams will lead the company’s sales team in the United States.

“Ron brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the composites industry. His extensive background includes sales, marketing, business, and technical experience,” Joe Peng, president of Gibson Fiberglass. “His experience is somewhat unique in that he has a lot of knowledge about resin and reinforcements from a technical point of view, and how the materials interact to make a composite. We look forward to the new dimension Ron will bring to the team.”

Before joining Gibson Fiberglass, Adams worked for Eastman Chemical Company for PETG thermoplastic sheet and unsaturated polyester resins and also served in various positions with Owens Corning for nearly 25 years in the unsaturated polyester resins business and in fiberglass reinforcement and fabric sales and marketing.

“I am very excited about returning to the composites industry and the opportunity to become part of the Gibson Team,” said Adams. “While the economy is in a slump at the moment, I believe the composites industry is poised for significant growth in the future. Industries such as transportation, alternative energy, and infrastructure, are looking toward the use of lighter, stronger composites to replace traditional materials such as wood, aluminum, steel and concrete. The push to reduce energy costs, fossil fuel use, and CO2 generation will catalyze the growth of the composites industry. I’m looking forward to helping our customers meet these growing needs for alternative materials.”
