Harken Yacht Equipment restructures leadership team
PEWAUKEE, Wis. — Harken Yacht Equipment has a new leadership team in place, Peter and Olaf Harken and their board of directors announced this week.
The new structure includes the following changes: Harken Italy General Manager Giampaolo Spera will add to his responsibilities by becoming CEO for Harken’s Global Operations while continuing in his previous role. Harken Commercial Manager Bill Goggins has been named CEO of Harken USA, and will report to Spera. The Board also named Andrea Merello as Harken Italy’s vice general manager, and Bob Sweet will continue as Harken’s Global CFO but will now report to Spera.
The new team has a long history with Harken, the company stated. Spera is an 18-year veteran of the company. Goggins has been with Harken for 10 years and prior to this announcement was the company’s commercial manager. Merello has been with Harken for 13 years, most recently as Harken Italy’s technical director. Sweet is a 20-year veteran at Harken.
The changes at Harken do not involve any change of ownership, the company noted. Peter and Olaf Harken will continue to own the business and remain in their role as co-chairmen of the board of directors.
Harken, Inc., manufactures and distributes sailboat hardware and accessories. It is headquartered in Pewaukee, Wis., and manufactures in both the United States and Italy.
