New leadership for Moffatt & Nichol office

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Richard Rhoads, who has more than two decades of project management and civil engineering experience with particular emphasis on marine construction and dredging projects, will transition into the position of business unit leader for Moffatt & Nichol’s Walnut Creek office over the next few months, the company said in a statement Wednesday. He is assuming the position from Richard Dornhelm, who has served as business unit leader for the Walnut Creek office for nearly 23 years. Dornhelm will remain an integral part of the organization, focusing on furthering developing the firm’s urban waterfront and marina practice both locally and overseas.

“I have worked side-by-side with (Dornhelm) and the Walnut Creek staff since 1997, supporting the office’s growth in the areas of marine and coastal engineering and environmental resources, urban waterfront developments, and ports and harbors,” Rhoads said.

Rhoads’ project experience includes significant involvement in major civil, marine construction and dredging projects, such as the San Francisco International Airport Runway Reconfiguration project and most recently, the seismic retrofit of the Bay Area Rapid Transit District’s Transbay Tube.
