John Underwood appointed to NBSAC

OAK PARK, Ill. – John Underwood, a former Marine Retailers Association of America chair, has received one of eight appointments from the Secretary of Homeland Security to the National Boating Safety Advisory Council, MRAA said in a press release Thursday.

Underwood will represent MRAA on the council, which is an advisory group, which consists of 21 appointees from industry, the public sector and law enforcement that Congress mandates advise the Coast Guard on boating safety issues.

“We are honored to have John appointed to NBSAC,” said Phil Keeter, MRAA President, “because of his experience as a marine dealer, marina operator, service provider, and his Board experience on MRAA, ABBRA, and ABYC.

“His appointment is vital to MRAA and comes at a critical time where issues such as federal mandatory education or licensing, operator proficiency and homeland security are being seriously considered by NBSAC,” added Keeter.

Underwood has experience as a marine dealer, marina operator and service provider and has served on the MRAA, American Boat and Yacht Council and American Boat Builders and Repairers Association boards.
