IMI awards seven marina industry certifications

WARREN, R.I. – The International Marina Institute, the training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries, designated seven new certified marina managers at the International Marina & Boatyard Conference in Atlanta Jan. 21, IMI said in a press release yesterday.

The newest CMMs are Michael Esposito of Irish Boat Shop in Harbor Springs, Mich.; Frank Warnhoff of Hallandale Beach, Fla.; Keith Knowlton of Maritime Resorts in Edgewater, Md.; John Birtzen of Crandon Park Marina in Key Biscayne, Fla.; Jim Ruscoe of Anchorage Marina in Baltimore; Hub Steenbakkers of Collins Bay Marina in Kingston, Ontario; and David O’Connor of Legacy Harbour Marina in Fort Myers, Fla. AMI’s CMM review committee unanimously approved each designation. The seven additions were presented with their certificates, along with four others who had earned designations earlier in 2007. Including these seven professionals, there are now 213 certified marina managers.

Upcoming IMI courses include the Intermediate Marina Management course in the United Kingdom Feb. 12-15, and in Newport, R.I., March 2-6. The next Advanced Marina Management program will be in Newport, R.I., March 31-April 5.
