Three marine specialists join AVALA

ST. LOUIS – The AVALA Marketing Group, a research and marketing firm in the recreation industry, is expanding its strategic services with three marine marketing specialists, the company said in press release earlier this month.

Miranda Phelps, a five-year marine industry veteran, came to AVALA as project manager and was recently promoted to interactive sales specialist. Prior to joining AVALA, she worked for Tracker Marine Group as retail marketing coordinator. There, Phelps offered manufacturer and retail support through managing advertising efforts and creative projects. Her responsibilities at AVALA include developing and providing major account support for the agency’s interactive marketing products, as well as promoting Internet solutions directly to dealers.

Brad Kovach joined AVALA as its new director of communications. He previously worked for seven years as a full-time and freelance writer/editor for Motor Boating, Boating World, Boat Digest, ShowBoats International and Caribbean Travel & Life magazines. Kovach also worked with Kenton Smith Advertising & Public Relations as senior account manager, where he headed a project team with clients such as Luhrs, Mainship and Hunter Marine. His responsibilities at AVALA include developing marketing and advertising communications to effectively represent clients like Sea Ray and The Moorings. He will also create and maintain AVALA’s internal marketing materials.

Spencer Ward has joined AVALA as project manager. Spencer brought more than four years of marine industry experience with him from Triton Boats, where, as brand manager, he supervised a variety of marketing duties including photo shoots, brand development, dealer advertising, media relations and event support. Spencer has previously held an engineering position with Mercury Marine and a marketing position with Boston Whaler. His responsibilities at AVALA include coordinating dealer services and supporting manufacturer programs such as Sea Ray’s Master Dealer Program and the Boston Whaler Owners Club.

“What we look for in our employees is passion for the recreation industry, relevant expertise and work experience, and the ability to think creatively,” said Steve Pizzolato, AVALA president. “The addition of Miranda, Brad and Spencer further strengthens AVALA’s growing marketing team.”

All three of the professionals will work out of AVALA’s headquarters in St. Louis.
