MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – KVH Industries, Inc.’s Martin Kits van Heyningen has been elected chairman of the board, the company said in a statement yesterday.
Kits van Heyningen, one of the founders of the company, will fill this role in addition to retaining his current positions as president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Arent Kits van Heyningen, who recently retired from the board and has been elected chairman emeritus.
At the same time, Mark Ain has been named lead director for KVH’s board of directors. In this role, Ain will coordinate the activities of the other independent directors and perform other duties and responsibilities as the board of directors determines. Ain has been a member of the board since 1997, and currently holds the post of chairman of the compensation committee. He is the executive chairman for the board of directors at Kronos Inc., which he founded in 1977.
