NMMA appoints new manager for two Toronto boat shows

CHICAGO – The National Marine Manufacturers Association recently promoted Cynthia Hare to show manager for the Toronto International Boat Show and the Toronto In-Water Boat Show, the organization said in a statement yesterday.

The 2007 Toronto In-Water Boat Show will be held Sept. 13 to 16 at Ontario Place, while the next Toronto International Boat Show is scheduled for Jan. 12 to 20, 2008 at Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre Exhibition Place.

Hare began her tenure with NMMA in 2006 as the assistant show manager for the two Toronto shows, working closely with Linda Waddell, NMMA vice president of northern shows and former Toronto International and In-Water show manager. Throughout the 2006/2007 boat show season, Hare and Waddell worked side by side to transition the day-to-day Toronto show management responsibilities over to Hare, who will take over the position beginning with the Toronto In-Water Boat Show in September. As vice president of northern shows, Waddell oversees the Vancouver, New York, Atlantic City, Norwalk and Baltimore boat shows, as well as both Toronto events.

“Cynthia has done an excellent job as our assistant show manager and has demonstrated the leadership skills required to head up these two events,” Waddell said. “She is an experienced professional and over the past year has proven an ideal fit for both our Toronto show teams and our industry.”

Hare has more than 20 years of show and event management experience. Prior to joining NMMA last year, she was the director of event coordination at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Hare also previously served as the event manager at Bank of Montreal and is a cottage boater.
